Guinness World Record Attempt - Fastest Golf Hole
guinness world record attempt - fastest Golf hole
The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was opened in 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, as one of their earliest Canada's grand railway hotels. The hotel property has undergone several stages of growth and redevelopment. The original hotel structure was designed by Bruce Price, with another structure completed in 1914. In 1926, a fire destroyed the original structure on the hotel property, although a replacement structure was later completed in 1928. The building was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988.
It is home to one of the world’s most sought after golf courses. Designed by legend - Stanley Thompson, with the vision to frame each hole with a postcard style view of the surrounding landscape; the course has ranked in the top 10 world golf courses numerous times. In 2019 it was awarded Golf Digest Editors' Choice Award, Best Golf Resorts in Canada.
With such a friendly team and credible heritage, it seemed fitting to try and gain another accolade for the home of golf in the Rockies. The idea behind it was for a team of four must attempt to complete a par 5 hole in the shortest time possible. The conditions for the record were as follows:
· Players are staggered at four positions on the hole
· The clock begins when the initial ball is struck from the tee
· Players cannot hit the next shot until the ball has come to a complete stop
· Hole must be at least 500yrs
We had a great morning on the course with some incredibly talented golfers. Have a look below at some of the shots taken during the mornings antics.
